In Detail

The West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner wants businesses to harness the often untapped potential of people who have served their time after committing an offence.

This is not just about the principle of giving people a second chance, but also ensuring businesses don’t lose out on often qualified and hardworking individuals who want to contribute to society once again.

The hope is that employers will leave the Summit with a better understanding of how they can join a growing movement of organisations who realise that ex-offenders can offer substantial benefits.

The PCC is keen we ensure there aren’t any unnecessary barriers which are blocking recruitment and contributing to the skills gap in our region.

The key note speaker will be Dominic Headley - formerly a legal officer at Nacro, a leading social justice charity. Dominic is considered one of the foremost experts in the UK on dealing with criminal records policy. He is author of the publication ‘Recruiting safely and fairly: a practical guide to employing ex-offenders’.
