Birmingham City Council is a large urban authority in the heart of the West Midlands with a growing population of over one million, with a significant portfolio of infrastructure and public realm projects for delivery including those relating to the 2022 Commonwealth Games.

The Council has a requirement for professional services to support the delivery of these and other projects.

There is currently a framework in place that is due to expire in October 2019 and it is seeking to engage with the market (particularly with specialists who are able to provide any of the individual disciplines for Lot 2) to gauge the level of interest in participating in a new framework for the provision of high quality design and professional services when the existing agreements expire.

The scope of the framework is for the execution of the design, supervision, and inspection of highways, civil and municipal engineering services. The scope does not include any physical works.

The services likely to be included within the scope are (the list is not exhaustive):

(Lot 1) Multi-Disciplinary: – General municipal highway and infrastructure engineering services

(Lot 2) Specialist: – Transport Planning, Site Investigations, Road Safety Audits, Public Consultation and Marketing, Traffic Signals / Urban Traffic Control, Health & Safety, Landscape Architecture, Urban Design, Cost Management and Quantity Surveying, Programme and Risk Management, New Roads and Street Works Act / Utilities co-ordination, Drainage, Structural Engineering and Site Management & Supervision.

This market engagement event will provide the Council not only a level of interest but also an insight into, for both the Council and potential providers, how they might approach the delivery to assist with developing a replacement to the existing framework, and building on the experience of operating the current one .

The purpose of this market engagement is to provide suppliers with the opportunity to input prior to the commencement of the procurement process and to also find out more about working with the Council.

The event is being held on 30 January 2019, at Lancaster Circus, Birmingham.

20-minute session time slots will be allocated to suppliers to meet and discuss the above.

To attend you will need to book an appointment time slot. Please contact Rebecca Smith directly on 0121 303 3491 or rebecca.x.smith@birmingham.gov.uk by 12 noon 24th January 2019.
