Last chance to have your say on council budget

Date added: 06/01/2012

Birmingham businesses have a few more days left to have their say about Birmingham City Council’s budget for 2012-13.

The deadline for responding to the consultation is the end of Sunday 8 January, so city companies who haven’t made their views known should respond quickly.

One of Birmingham City Council’s four top service priorities is "Encouraging investment to create jobs and helping people into work”.

The council needs to hear from the local business community as well as residents, staff and other organisations, to make sure that their interests are reflected in the final budget plans.

Widely-reported public sector budget cuts have necessitated significant savings – an estimated £106 million in 2012-13 – and a consultation document is available on the council’s website right now, along with facts sheets and full details of how to respond.

Responses are being gathered by email, text message and post, as well as via community forums and a user-friendly online survey.

Members of finditinbirmingham are being encouraged to take part in the consultation and help to represent the views of the local business community. Members can:

Businesses will be able to find more information about the budget consultation, including a press release, videos from the Chief Executive and Councillor Randal Brew (cabinet member for Finance), a blog from the Chief Executive and notes from community meetings (after they have taken place) at www.birminghamnewsroom.com
