On 1 September we will be welcoming Amey - the company responsible for the Birmingham Highways Maintenance and Management Service. Working in partnership with Birmingham City Council the 25 year service is the largest and most complex contract of its type in Europe.

Amey maintains 2,500km of local road network, nearly 100,000 street lights and over 850 highways structures and bridges across the city on behalf of Birmingham City Council and on Thursday 1 September will join FinditinBirmingham for an exclusive supply chain event, bringing along several of their contractors to meet the local supply chain.

Speakers

Martin Smith (Principal Commercial Manager on Amey’s Birmingham Highways Maintenance and Management Service) and Eddie Fellows (BHMMS Highway Network Director) will present to attendees giving an overview of the Birmingham highways service, why it is important to work with local companies and why social value is important to Amey.

Every year Amey spends a significant amount of money with its supply chain and aims to build long term sustainable relationships. This event will be a chance for local businesses based in Birmingham to learn more about what the company does and explore the supply chain opportunities that are available from their supply chain.

•    They directly employ 500 people, with an additional 450 people employed through its subcontractors
•    81% of the total contract spend is with suppliers based in Birmingham and the West Midlands
•    Spend in the wider UK is for commodities such as salt, street lighting materials and other specialist goods and services
